Kenya's Trade Agreements

Kenya is strengthening its international trade relations through key agreements with the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), and under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). These agreements are designed to enhance market access, promote sustainable economic development, and encourage investment in various sectors. They represent Kenya’s commitment to fostering a competitive, inclusive, and growth-oriented economy.

Kenya has signed a comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Union, securing duty-free and quota-free access to the EU market. This agreement supports Kenya's exports, particularly in horticulture, tea, and coffee, while promoting sustainable development, investment, and regional value chains.

Following the UK's exit from the EU, Kenya entered into a bilateral EPA with the UK to maintain preferential trade terms. This deal ensures continued access to the UK market for Kenyan products and opens opportunities for deeper economic cooperation in areas like services, investment, and innovation.

Kenya is among the first countries to ratify the AfCFTA, which aims to create a single African market for goods and services. The agreement enhances intra-African trade, supports industrial growth, and strengthens Kenya’s position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
